Normal people in an abnormal world

Normal people in an abnormal world

This series of frontal portraits is my way of demonstrating individuality in a world where those who step out of bounds are often feared and judged. Each character is a symbol of liberation from social stereotypes and imposed norms.

I have been shy all my life to express myself the way I wanted to, fearing judgment, ridicule and violence. Society often dictates how we should look, what we should wear and who we should be, and any deviation is perceived as a threat. In this series, I'm freeing myself from that fear. I create characters that embody my idea of freedom. There is no judgment in my world.

I often use frontal portraits in my practice because they allow for direct, honest contact with the viewer. It's a gaze that says, "Here I am, just as I am. Are you ready to meet me without judgment?"

This series is my desire to reconsider the preconceived attitudes that are formed in society. Here I think about how often we suppress ourselves to conform to expectations, and how important it is to find the strength to be genuine, first and foremost to ourselves. This is my personal manifesto of liberation, a path to a world where it is normal to be different.
